Character, leadership, and service. These are the core values that define a Daniels Scholar.
The Daniels Scholarship Program distinguishes itself from other scholarship programs focusing purely on academic achievement or financial need by selecting young leaders of exceptional character with the desire to give back to their communities.
Bill Daniels defined the specific criteria and unique perspective used to select Daniels Scholars. In addition to overall character, we look for natural leaders with the motivation to succeed and the potential to be engaged in the community. From the thousands that apply, roughly 250 young people from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming are awarded scholarships each year.

Congratulations to Beth Himes
nominated for the
Inspiring Teacher Award at CU Boulder
The BOLD (Broadening Opportunity through Leadership and Diversity) Center is part of CU-Boulder’s commitment to creating an environment where students achieve their dreams. The BOLD Center fosters success through academic resources, student leadership opportunities and a supportive community in order to break down the barriers that keep too many of today’s young talent from reaching their aspirations.
At the Celebration of Excellence, we will celebrate the graduation of our seniors, honor the efforts of the K-12 teachers (BETH) who inspired them, recognize the contributions of our industry and foundation partners, and support the education of engineers who will help shape the future.
Congratulations to Susan Mumford Hartley

Explorer program.
Congratulations Matthew Willis!
Matthew Willis Named Nation's Top Assistant Principal
Assistant Principal Matthew Willis supports and cares for his students more than they will ever know. The Colorado Association of Secondary School Principals, in conjunction with the Colorado Association of School Executives, recently recognized his dedication and commitment to student success by naming him the 2013 Colorado Assistant Principal of the Year.
“It’s been an awesome experience to be a leader at Hinkley,” said Willis. “I feel honored to be able to make a difference in our community.”
Willis has been a vital person in the Aurora community for quite some time. Having been in education for the past nine years, Willis said it’s the students who keep him motivated and passionate about his work. Aside from greeting students at the front door three to four days per week, he makes a point to visit with teachers as often as possible to improve instruction, something he believes is necessary to continue to increase student achievement. He says they discuss “how to work collectively to bring this all together to create hope and opportunity for students.”
Willis will be honored by CAASP and CASE later this month in an official ceremony.
Congratulations, Matthew, on your outstanding work!
