Hinkley IB LIGHTS
The Hinkley IB LIGHTS Health Sciences Academy is made up of three different pathways, each academically challenging for students in grades 9-12. This unique academy prepares students for college and careers in the health sciences and engineering.
Academy Students enroll in Health Sciences classes for four years as well as other rigorous academic courses in science, math, English, social studies, and world languages. In their Junior year, academy students may also apply for admission to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at Hinkley, which shares similar academic philosophy and requirements.
The Academy offers students field experiences, internships, and opportunities for community service. Academy students may apply for participation in Mini Med School, Colorado/Wyoming Junior Science Academy, UCD Innovation Hyperlab, Bio Boot Camp, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), and many other opportunities. Students receive ongoing academic support, career and college-preparatory counseling, and information about scholarships and financial assistance.
