Whats new in AVID

The Seniors have been working hard on college applications and scholarships. Many of them have already been accepted to colleges. As they are approaching graduation, the crunch is on.... Scholarships are the main focus. In addition, with the presidential election fast approaching they will be studying about the various candidates and what they will need to do to vote.

The AVID Juniors are now working on a community service project for Habitat for Humanity. Please stop by Mr. Brysh's room (1401) to sign a 2x4 that will be hung in the house they will help build.

The AVID Sophomores and Freshman are learning about the presidential race and what each candidate stands for.

Any student who is interested in AVID please see Mrs. Lawson in room 1120.

AVID Community Service
The students in the Senior class have decided to volunteer in the Life Skills classes here at Hinkley.    The students go to their classroom and talk about everything such as prom, girlfriends, boyfriends and friends in general.  Since we have started we learn more each and everytime.  There are so many wonderful Hinkley students in that class and we have discovered they are not just the Life Skills students...They are in fact Hinkley students and have just as much pride or more than some.  We all enjoy going down and just playing community skills games with them, have conversations, and read to them.  It has really touched our hearts and we have become very close to these students and now we are friends...  chelseaoakes-091707-091807-022.jpgchelseaoakes-091707-091807-029.jpg
